About EFT - Emotional Freedom Tecniques
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is a self help tool for assisting the release of emotional, mental and sometimes physical pain.
When you first come across EFT you may consider it to be a little odd. It is certainly different from most people's idea of therapy. The wonderful aspect about EFT is that you don't need to believe in it in any way for it to be effective. All that is required is your curiosity and willingness to do it.
Although EFT itself has been around for about 30 years, it is based on the principles of chinese acupuncture which itself has been used for thousands of years. You will be pleased and relieved to know that it does not involve acupunture needles at all.
The connection between EFT and acupuncture is that the acupuncture points on the body are utilised in both along with the idea of energy flow or energy blockages are the same both therapies. This energy called Chi (pronounced chee) will be familiar to martial arts students.
As an experience however, EFT is probably closer to acupressure and reflexology than to acupuncture. Simply put, EFT involves the tapping (with fingers) of various (not that many) acupressure points on the body whilst focussing on the issue that is causing the problem.
Sometimes the EFT therapist will tap gently on the client's acupressure points. For the most part though, you will be encouraged to do this yourself. This provides proof that you can use EFT effectively under your steam and outside of any therapy session.
One round of EFT literally takes no more than 1 minute. When you know that many people have experienced a positive difference after just once round of EFT, you will understand why it is considered such a powerful and rapid form of help.
